Entrance ramp to I-35 from southbound frontage road near FM 306 to be closed

Beginning Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 8:30 p.m., construction work will begin on the I-35
southbound (SB) frontage road near FM 306, from Nissan Way to Post Road. The contractor
will close and remove the existing I-35 SB entrance ramp near Clayton Homes at Nissan Way.
While the existing ramp is being removed, drivers will start using the new, permanent
entrance ramp located south of Post Road.

Drivers can expect traffic barrier to be on both the I-35 SB main lanes shoulder and on the
frontage road shoulder in this area. Traffic will remain in its current configuration on the
frontage road during this Phase 3 of work to remove the existing entrance ramp.

As part of the ongoing IH-10 frontage road construction, work is progressing into the next stage of construction which will require the demolition of the existing US-87 (Main Street) bridge. 

In order to safely remove the bridge, crews will need approximately 56 hours of continuous full mainlane closure of the IH-10 eastbound and westbound travel lanes between SH-46 (Bandera Rd) and Scenic Loop. The removal of this bridge will allow crews to start working on the new US-87 bridge.  

The work is scheduled to start on Friday June 11, 2021 at 9:00 pm and is expected to be completed by 5:00 am on Monday June 14, 2021, weather permitting.

The westbound mainlanes will be removed at Exit 542 Business US-87 and will be directed along the Westbound Frontage Road to the next available entrance ramp prior to SH-46, and

The eastbound mainlanes will be removed near SH-46 and will be detoured along the Eastbound Frontage Road and will be allowed to enter back onto the mainlanes east of Scenic Loop.  

During this closure, there will be no through traffic at Scenic Loop under IH-10. All traffic will be required to turn right onto the frontage roads.

• Northbound Scenic Loop traffic will be detoured to Balcones Creek intersection and
• Southbound Scenic Loop traffic will be detoured to the SH-46 intersection.

As a reminder, all construction work is subject to change.
