Shifting Over: Drivers Diverted For Retaining Wall Work On SH 46 Project In Boerne

Important development on the River Road (SH 46) project in Boerne starting tonight (Wednesday Jan. 29) involving a long-term traffic shift.

This shift involves closing the center-left turn lane between City Park Road and Sharon Drive West to expedite the construction of a retaining wall on the north side of the road (see images below).
The contractor will be using the existing westbound lane as a work zone while westbound traffic is shifted onto the existing left-turn lane.

Throughout the duration of this months-long closure, westbound traffic will not be able to turn left onto City Park Road -- main reason being to minimize delays. Westbound traffic will need to take Charger Boulevard. to access Boerne City Park and City Park Road.

This shift is not expected to have a significant impact on traffic flow since drivers are basically just diverted to the left but we're keeping the same number of lanes.
