Changes Coming to I-10 Frontage Road near US 87 in Kendall County
Crews are progressing into the next stage of construction on
the I-10 frontage road in Kendall County. As part of this construction stage, the
eastbound frontage road will be permanently changed from a two-way traffic
operation to a one-way traffic operation between US-87 (Main Street) and
Scenic Loop. This will allow crews to continue working on the new eastbound
frontage road and new ramps in this area. This work is scheduled to start Saturday April 10, 2021,
weather permitting. As part of this transformation, the new US-87 turnaround bridge
will be opened to allow westbound frontage road traffic to directly access the
new eastbound frontage road and provide access to local businesses and
residences under the one-way traffic operations. The newly constructed
US-87 bridge will be opened to allow southbound US-87 (Main Street) traffic
coming out of Boerne to cross over IH-10 directly onto the new eastbound frontage
Road. Unfortunately, at this time, the use of the above new
bridges will no longer allow direct access from the existing eastbound frontage road to US-87. Traffic will need to continue eastward on the frontage
road to Scenic Loop and double back on the westbound frontage road to access
US-87. This condition will be rectified to in later phases of the project
to allow direct access between the eastbound frontage road and US-87. Stay updated on this project and more by subscribing to the
