Milestone Time In Boerne: SH 46 Project Starts Intersection Reconstruction

It's not called "milestone" for anything! As our contractor continues humming along on the much-needed SH 46 expansion/improvement project in Boerne, starting next week they're letting folks know to brace for some delays starting Monday.

The traffic switch and turn closures will be necessary in order to reconstruct the intersection of SH 46 and Charger Boulevard.

Both left-hand turn lanes from SH 46 at the intersection with Woods of Boerne Boulevard and with Charger Blvd will be closed. One lane of travel per direction will be provided through the intersection.

Officers with the Boerne Police Department will be on site helping direct traffic for the duration of this phase of construction to minimize delays to the traveling public.

The intersection construction is scheduled to start Monday, July 29th, and is projected to last approximately 11 days.

The contractor will be using this lane closure to repave a section of SH 46 between Sharon Drive East and Champion Blvd.

The contractor has taken every step to make this phase of construction as efficient as possible, and will have crews working 24 hours a day to accelerate its completion.

This construction will take place in two stages (see illustrations).

During the first stage, eastbound traffic will remain in its current place while westbound traffic will be shifted to the northern edge of the road, creating a work zone in the middle of SH 46.

Once the first stage of construction is complete, eastbound traffic will be shifted north onto the pavement laid in Stage 1, adjacent to westbound traffic, creating a work zone on the southern side of SH 46.

The contractor has taken the step of notifying the public through electronic message boards posted throughout the work zone.

As always, we cannot stress enough the importance of safety for everyone in a live construction zone. Please be patient and mindful of the crews on site.
