US 281 Project: Evans Road Intersection Reconstruction

If you drive up and down on US 281, no doubt you've noticed the volume of work on Phase I of the expansion project between Loop 1604 and Stone Oak Parkway.

You may recall some weeks back our contractor reconstructed the intersection at Stone Oak to adjust to project progress (including traffic switches) and more recently, they started reconstructing the Evans Road intersection.

Step 2 of the Evans Road work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (July 10, 2019).  Westbound traffic will be shifted south onto the newly constructed pavement while the north side of the roadway is being rebuilt (during Step 1, the eastbound direction was reduced to two lanes).

Due to the difference in elevation, there will be a reduction from three lanes to two on westbound Evans. The third lane is anticipated to be restored next month. Eastbound Evans Road will remain two lanes during this operation.

Intersection reconstruction can require multiple changes in traffic configuration to ensure construction can be completed smoothly and, more importantly, safely for drivers and construction workers.  We appreciate your patience during this time knowing this will present an inconvenience for people who live in the area.

As always, this scheduled work is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
