Hill Country News: RM 1376 Full Closure Over Spring Break

If you live in or drive up in the Hill Country often, this one's for you.

Particularly for those who often make the drive between Boerne and Sisterdale, please be aware that our contractor on the RM 1376 project, Curran, will be doing a full roadway closure in both directions in a portion of this roadway.

The full roadway closure will take place in a 1/2-mile section starting just north of Wasp Creek Road, starting on Saturday, March 7 through Sunday, March 15.

The roadway will actually remain open to local traffic outside of the closure area. That means between Boerne and Wasp Creek Road and between Sisterdale down to the closure section.

However, folks intending of making the usual drive on RM 1376 between Boerne and Sisterdale will be diverted to an established detour using FM 474 and FM 473 (see map).

This closure is being put in place during Spring Break, when there is a reduction in regular traffic. The reason the contractor is doing a full closure in both directions is to expedite the widening of the roadway to enhance safety for the traveling public. Additionally, workers will be installing new guard fence in this area.

Other alternatives to the full closure were considered but they would have implied closures during a longer period of time, which would not serve the public well since safety enhancements cannot wait.

We understand this will cause an inconvenience to drivers, particularly to locals used to the trip between Boerne and Sisterdale on RM 1376. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we our best to improve this roadway in a timely manner.

As always, this scheduled closure is weather permitting and subject to change.
