Northbound I-35 Mainlane Overnight Closure in New Braunfels

The northbound Interstate 35 (I-35) mainlanes from the northbound I-35 Kohlenberg Road/Conrads Lane exit ramp (Exit 193) to the northbound I-35 entrance ramp at Old Bastrop Road will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 through 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.

During this operation, traffic will detour by taking the northbound I-35 Kohlenberg Road/Conrads Lane exit ramp (Exit 193) to the northbound I-35 frontage road and use the I-35 entrance ramp at Old Bastrop Road to return to the northbound I-35 mainlanes. This operation will allow for improvements to the new overpass at the Parkway intersection which is scheduled to open at the end of 2021.

Also note these additional overnight closures:

• The northbound I-35 entrance ramp at Kohlenberg Road/Conrads Lane will be closed beginning 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12
• The turnaround lanes at FM 306 over the I-35 mainlanes will also be closed during this operation

FULL CLOSURE OF SH 151 PLANNED FOR THIS WEEKEND IN WEST SAN ANTONIO

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to perform major closures in west San Antonio on SH 151 at the I-410 interchange this weekend. The closures are expected to greatly impact traffic flow and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. Details on the specific closures are listed below.

What

Full closure of SH 151 mainlanes from W. Military Dr. to Ingram Rd.

Full closure of SH 151 eastbound to westbound turnaround at Loop 410

When

Friday, December 11 at 8 p.m. to Saturday, December 12 at 5 p.m.

         

Detours

SH 151 Eastbound. Traffic will be detoured to the frontage road at the Cable Ranch Road exit ramp, continue through the I-410 intersection and re-enter mainlanes at the entrance ramp before W. Military Dr.

SH 151 Westbound. Traffic will be detoured to the frontage road at the exit ramp just past Slick Ranch Creek, continue through the I-410 intersection and re-enter mainlanes at the entrance ramp before Ingram Rd.

SH 151 Turnaround. Traffic will be detoured to the I-410 intersection and take two left turns.

This weekend’s closures will allow crews to continue construction of the flyover ramps at the SH 151 and I-410 interchange as part of scheduled work in phase one of the I-410 Southwest project.  This project involves several improvements to improve mobility and enhance safety along a 14.9 mile stretch of I-410 from SH 16 to Ingram Rd.  

Phase one of the I-410 Southwest project has a total estimated cost of $100 million. Construction began in 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2022. Williams Brother’s Construction is the contractor on the project.

Loop 1604 – North Central San Antonio

• Saturday, December 5, 2020. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Single mainlane closure, in both directions, from Redland Rd. to Green Mountain Rd. for guard rail repairs.
• Sunday, December 6 until Monday, December 7. 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Double lane closures on eastbound mainlanes from Redland Rd. to Bulverde Rd. for ramp improvements.
• Monday, December 7 until Friday, December 11. Nightly 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Full westbound mainlane closure of the west- to southbound direct connector ramp to US 281 for overhead signage work. DETOUR: Take the Gold Canyon Road/Redland Road exit ramp, continue on the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road through the Gold Canyon Road/Redland Road intersections, turn left on the southbound US 281 frontage road and use the Donella Drive entrance ramp.

 I-10 – Far East San Antonio/Bexar County/Seguin/Guadalupe County 

• Saturday, December 5. 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full closure of eastbound mainlanes from Loop 1604 to Pfeil Rd., including entrance ramp, for traffic switch and striping operations. DETOUR: All eastbound traffic will use the Graytown exit and re-enter I-10 at the Pfeil Rd. on-ramp.
• Saturday, December 5. 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Single westbound mainlane closure from Pfeil Rd. to Loop 1604 for barrier movement and crash cushion installation.
• Current until further notice. East and westbound I-10 frontage road traffic have right-of-way at Woodlake Parkway intersection. Woodlake traffic must stop before proceeding.
• Current until late November: Westbound I-10 exit ramp to Foster Road closed. DETOUR: Use Woodlake Parkway exit ramp.
• Current until early December: Westbound I-10 entrance ramp from Ackerman Road closed. DETOURS:
• Southbound Ackerman traffic can travel south under the I-10 overpass, use the eastbound frontage road to Foster Road, turn left on Foster, and take the westbound frontage road to the westbound entrance ramp just west of Foster.
• Northbound Ackerman traffic can use the eastbound frontage road to Foster Road, turn left on Foster, and take the westbound frontage road to the westbound entrance ramp just west of Foster.
• Current until further notice. Graytown Road bridge at I-10. DETOURS: Graytown Road traffic will use the frontage roads and the Pfeil Road underpass or Loop 1604 turnaround to cross I-10.
• Current until further notice. Eastbound entrance ramp from Foster Road. DETOUR: Take next entrance ramp east of Woodlake Parkway.

 I-35 – Central San Antonio/Northeast San Antonio/New Braunfels/Comal County

• Until further notice, the southbound entrance ramp at Schwab Rd. is closed.
• Sunday, December 6 until Sunday, December 20. FM 306 turnarounds closed, in both directions, for construction work.  
• Monday, December 7 until Saturday, December 12. 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Double southbound mainlane closure from FM 1103 until FM 2252 for barrier placement.

• Thursday, December 10 until Friday, December 11. 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alternating westbound lane and ramp closures from Starcrest Dr. to Weidner Rd. for road improvements. 

FM 1976 – Walzem Road/Gibbs Sprawl Road

• Current until further notice. Daily 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Alternating southbound lanes between Woodlake Parkway and Gibbs Sprawl Road for barrier/pavement work (existing seven total lanes narrowed to three, with one in each direction and a two-way turn lane in the middle).
• Current until further notice. Full-day closure. Southbound lane between Toepperwein Road and Walzem Road for barrier setting work and road rehab work.

 SH 46 – Boerne/Kendall County

• Current until further notice. 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Eastbound left lane from East Sharon Drive to Charger Boulevard for traffic switch (drivers diverted to the right side for construction access on the right side; left turn lane remains open).

 RM 1376 – Kendall County

• Current until Saturday, November 21. 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Single lane closures, in both directions, from N. School St. to 0.5 miles past Wasp Creek Rd. for culvert work and roadway reconstruction.

RM 337 – Bandera County

• Current until March 2021. Full closure of bridge at Mill Creek for bridge replacement. 

Work on turnarounds at I-35 and FM 306 (Creekside Crossing) to start Dec. 6, 2020

What improvements are taking place?
The I-35 turnarounds at FM 306 (Creekside Crossing) in both the northbound and southbound directions will be closed starting Sunday, December 6 at 9 p.m. The turnaround closures will be in place for approximately two weeks to allow crews to construct drainage facilities, widen the turnarounds, and repave and restripe the turnaround lanes. Completion of work is dependent on weather.

Detours:

• Southbound traffic on the I-35 frontage road will make a left turn at the signalized intersection at FM 306 (Creekside Crossing) to access I-35 northbound.
• Northbound traffic on the I-35 frontage road will make a left turn at the signalized intersection at FM 306 (Creekside Crossing) to access I-35 southbound.

Please note: Two lanes will remain open on the I-35 frontage road in both directions from FM 306 (Creekside Crossing). There will be no change to current traffic patterns on FM 306 (Creekside Crossing) during this work phase.

RM 1376 Highway Improvement Construction Update

 

Construction is currently underway rehabbing two sections of roadway. The first section is from N. School St to Kendall Oaks Dr and the second from Wild Cherry Ln to Walnut Grove Rd. 

Driver can expect moderate delays and queues as pilot cars and flaggers provide traffic control throughout the construction site. Remember, in the beginning of the roadway rehabilitation process you will be driving on compacted dirt, reduce speed in these areas. Seal Coating and Hot Mix Asphalt Paving operations for both sections will begin in mid-December with the intent to complete them by Christmas.

The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. Low temperatures will limit the amount of work that can be completed.
